The West Pennine Moors hosts two educational or "open" farms, where children, families and school children can enjoy learning about animals, farming and the countryside.

Cronkshaw Fold Educational Farm

Cronkshaw Fold Farm is located in the beautiful Alden Valley, Helmshore in Rossendale.  It is a traditional West Pennine working hill farm, predominantly farming sheep.  Since 1991 the farm has become a successful centre for educational visits for nursery schools, primary schools and high schools with many children participating in educational visits.  For further information, visit Cronkshaw Fold Farm website

Smithills Open Farm

Smithills Open Farm is set in the open countryside of Smithills Country Park, where families and children can enjoy see a wide range of different animals.  Lamb feeding and pets corner is available throughout the year.  For more information, visit Smithills Open Farm website.
